  1. Open the Picsart app and tap “+”, search for “Instagram Story” and choose a template that you like to start editing;
  2. Use the icon provided by the template, or tap “Ad Photo” to insert one;
  3. Add effects, stickers, texts, frames and as many extra items as needed;
  4. After editing, tap the “Arrow” icon and save the image;
  5. Now, just use it as an Instagram highlight cover.

3. Adobe Spark

  • Compatibility: Android, iOS, Mac and Windows (Web)
  • Price: free

While there is a mobile version called Spark Post, the web version of Adobe Spark offers more editing options for your Instagram highlight cover templates.

  1. Open Adobe Spark, click “+” on the left menu and select “Instagram Story”;
  2. Access the “Templates” tab and search for one that you like, or click on “Photo” to upload an image from your PC;
  3. Another option is to use the “Icons” tab to insert something that is appropriate. For this case, choose a background color for the image;

  4. Add text, graphic art, shape, theme and other elements that are important;
  5. After editing, tap the “Share” icon in the upper right corner and select “Save”;
  6. Now you can use it as your Instagram highlight cover.

5. PicMonkey

  • Compatibility: Mac and Windows (Web)
  • Pricing: Free to try with paid version option ($6 per month or $72 annually)

PicMonkey is one of the more limited options on the list, especially since you have to be a subscriber or use the trial period to be able to download an image. Despite this, the platform offers interesting template options for you to use in your creations.

  1. Go to PicMonkey, start creating something and select “Instagram Story” as a template;
  2. In the “Templates” tab, search again for “Instagram Story” and choose a template that you prefer;
  3. Edit the colors of the offered template, or click on “Photos and Videos” to add a central icon;
