How to edit or delete WhatsApp Message

The WhatsApp Message is the space used to include a brief text description about your profile. In the case of professional profiles, it is an interesting option to present details of your business, such as opening hours.

WhatsApp itself provides some pre-configured phrases for the message, such as “Available” or “In a meeting”, but you can customize it with your own text of up to 139 characters. It is not possible, however, to leave this space blank on the platform. Changing the message on WhatsApp can be done in the app (Android | iOS) and in the web version. Learn how!

How to edit or delete WhatsApp message

  1. Open WhatsApp and select the settings screen. On Android, tap the three dots icon and select ‘Settings’. On iOS, just tap the icon in the top right corner of the screen. In the web version, just click on your profile picture;
  2. In the settings, select your photo to open your profile options;
  3. Tap the pencil icon in the “Message” field;
  4. On the message screen, tap the pencil icon to change the current message or choose from WhatsApp’s pre-set options. All scraps already created are stored in the list;
  5. Write your new message. The platform allows using emojis and special characters, while it is not possible to leave the space blank.

How to choose who can see my WhatsApp message

The message is one of the WhatsApp features that can have their visibility changed in the privacy settings. The messenger allows you to limit the view to contacts in your phonebook, anyone or anyone. If you have blocked an account in the app, that person cannot read your message or see your profile picture. Here’s how to change:

  1. Open WhatsApp settings and tap on “Account”. Then select “Privacy”;
  2. In the privacy settings, select the “Message” tab;
  3. Finally, choose your desired configuration. The app saves the changes automatically.
